Over the course of a week the operator on workstation 1 spends a great deal of time manually checking the status of Revenue management (RMS) jobs. In that week's time this operator has to perform these checks about 300 times. If our operator is really efficient (filtering and job console) and can do these checks in 3 minutes for each job we’re looking at 900 minutes per week! 15 man hours per week is a lot of time that could be spent on more critical tasks. The Data center operations department spent over $60,000 on one of its disk systems that was used as part of the company's data backup solution. Budget constraints forced the department to use this system as an ISCSI disk target for a Netbackup media server.
